• Parents and Guardians of Incoming 6th Grade Holmes Students,

We hope you are enjoying your summer! I am writing this afternoon for two reasons.

First, current D11 records indicate our 6th grade class is coming in above D11's initial projection and your 6th grade student is being counted in our 2022-2023 school year enrollment. In order to allow me to make informed staffing decisions, such as requesting additional teaching staff before school begins, I am being asked to verify all 6th grade enrollment intentions. We understand how circumstances can change over the spring and summer so this is only a double check for informed decision making. I apologize if it is duplicative on your part.

Please use the linked Holmes Enrollment Verification Form, or the attached QR code to confirm your enrollment intention.

Second, as we look ahead to the 2022-2023 school year, there are some important dates and information for families to be aware of. Please make note of the following information for early August.

    • The Holmes school day will begin at 8:40am and end at 3:49pm.
    • Saturday, August 13 is our Back to School/Registration Day where all students and a parent/guardian are expected to attend during their grade level time:
      • 6th grade: 9am-11am
      • 7th grade: 12pm-2pm
      • 8th grade: 2pm-4pm
      • Families with students in multiple grade levels may choose to attend during any of the above time frames.
      • Students will receive their schedule, locker information, photo ID, and have an opportunity to locate their classrooms and/or tour with our 8th grade student leaders.
      • Your time completing the registration varies and is family dependent. Most students with one parent/guardian can complete this in 30-45 minutes.
      • If you would like to reduce the length of time spent at this event, students and their parent/guardian are encouraged to read the student/family handbook prior to attending. You can find the handbook on the Holmes website with the other Student Resource links.
      • More details will be sent closer to August 13.
    • Tuesday, August 16 is our WEB Day (Where Everybody Belongs). This is a school day / orientation day for 6th GRADE ONLY from 8:40am-3:49pm.
    • Wednesday, August 17 is the first day of school for ALL STUDENTS! School will now run from 8:40am-3:49pm.

We look forward to seeing you on August 13 for the Back to School/Registration event and thank you for completing the enrollment verification form.

  • The federal waivers that allowed all students to eat free for the last 2 years have expired and students will need to qualify for free or reduced meals to be able to eat their school meals for free.

District 11 Food and Nutrition Service, along with other districts across the nation, will be returning to the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) this school year. This is the same way meals were served  prior to the pandemic school shutdown

Please see the attached documents for more information and links to the online Free and Reduced Meal Application.
