    Transitions for October 2020

    Dear Rogers’ Families,

At the beginning of October, there will be several classroom and staff changes at Rogers.  Mrs. Gibbs, first grade teacher, has decided to take a leave of absence this year due to personal reasons.  Her last day at Rogers will be September 30th.  Because student enrollment at Rogers in kindergarten and first grade during these early months has declined, District 11 has determined that our school is overstaffed for the number of students enrolled and is requiring our school to reduce our staff by one kindergarten teacher.  Ms. Simpson, currently teaching kindergarten, will move to first grade and replace Mrs. Gibbs.  Ms. Simpson’s class will be divided into two groups and be placed with our other two kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Provin and Mrs. Green.

Mrs. Gibb’s and Ms. Simpson’s students will move to their new rooms on Tuesday, September 29th.  During the up-coming week, teachers will talk with parents and students about this change and answer any questions about the move.  Change is never easy, but we will work to reduce anxiety and make this transition as stress-free as possible.

Will Rogers Elementary will greatly miss Mrs. Gibbs.  She has been a tremendous asset to our school, and we wish her well in the future.  Please don’t hesitate to call me with any questions or concerns you may have.

    Sincerely,

    Linda Slothower
