Mrs. Carmen Moyer
Teaching is my later-in-life career. After subbing in my own kids' school for two years, I returned to school to become a teacher. I LOVE being a teacher! My overarching goal in teaching is to instill a joy of learning and increased confidence in my students while growing their academic, social, and critical-thinking skills.
I also love learning and am currently working to become a Dyslexia Therapist. I was the struggling reader growing up and love growing students' reading skills.
I believe students learn best in an active, comfortable, engaging, and safe environment that promotes critical-thinking and problem-solving skills through projects and choice. We work hard, but we also make working fun by including games, partner and group work, and projects in our lessons. When we are stuck, we talk about how our struggles are like games and puzzles to figure out.
As for my family, Bill, my husband, and I have raised two wonderful children who are now young adults. I enjoy spending time with my family and pets, gardening, reading, bicycling, and spending time in the mountains.
