Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Shannon Merrifield

Hi! My name is Shannon Merrifield and I currently teach fourth grade at Jackson Elementary. I have been teaching for 22 years. I taught two years at Colorado Timberline Academy. I did my student teaching and taught two additional years in Harrison School District and taught two years in Falcon School District before landing back home in Colorado Springs School District 11. This is my 15th year teaching in District 11. While I have experience teaching all grade levels from first to twelfth grade, fourth grade is my passion.

My husband and I were both born and raised in Colordao Springs, and we are both products of District 11 schools. After high school, I went to Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, where I received a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics. I spent two years teaching at the alternative boarding school there before returning to Colorado Springs. While working on my first Master's Degree in Elementary Education, I met my husband. We have been married 16 years. We have two children, a son in middle school, and a daughter starting her freshman year of high school. We enjoy watching professional hockey and baseball games. We love to spend our summers and free time camping and traveling in our trailer. I love the peace and quiet the mountains provide.
