Mrs. Heidi Cooper
I am happy to be your School Social Worker this year. I spent my Master's Degree internship in 2018-2019 at Wilson Elementary and served as a Special Ed Paraprofessional for five years at Steele Elementary in District 11 before starting to work with this fabulous community at Rudy Elementary. I may have also met you or your students coordinating and volunteering for Peace Camp or at the Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Center.
It is most important for me to help students make their lives more manageable with the stresses they have in today's world. Childhood should be child-like, but that isn't always the case. So, I bring to Rudy a Social Emotional Learning Curriculum including mindfulness, yoga, tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique), singing, and other activities that develop self-esteem and leadership skills. I teach with Non-violent Communication (NVC), Restorative Practices (RP), conflict resolution.
We live in a diverse community and a diverse world and teach students to support each other regardless of our differences. In this way, together, we can support your student in being happier and creating a kinder, safer world.
Mrs. Cooper loves your student and whether you are doing your learning at home or at school, my door is open to you.
