Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Marshall Woody

Welcome to Mann's CTE/STEM classes and Mr. Woody's class site.  CTE is for Career and Technical Education which is continued in high school where you can choose from more possibilities. These classes have strong components of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) education, but you don't have to be a science geek like me to love these classes. If you have any questions, it will be easiest to contact me at my email, I check email multiple times a day and will answer at my earliest opportunity.

Entering the "Wayback Machine" you will learn that I started my training at Emporia State University in 1983 focusing on teaching science to elementary and middle school students. I began teaching in 1988 in Wichita, KS at Truesdell MS, which had over 1,200 students and that was greater than the population of the little town I grew up in. I taught at Truesdell until my family moved to the Springs in the summer of 2002 and have been at Mann for the past 18 years.

When I am not at school you might find me at antique auctions, I grew up working with my father doing auctions around the country and still love finding new old things. I have started teaching myself blacksmithing and have a couple of students at school that love it, we have not had much opportunity to practice lately though. I enjoy rapier fighting, no..., not in the white suits, the older styles from around the renaissance period.

This summer, I started taking out and installing kitchen cabinets from the 1950s in my kitchen. This required learning a whole new set of skills and persevering through the times I thought it was really stupid to try this on my own. It is looking amazing. I will be working on making the countertop for the new island from two slabs of walnut, which may take until spring to figure out.
