Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! I am so excited to be your child's teacher. This is my 37th year teaching and my 14th year teaching at Monroe. It would seem that I would be done with my career however, every year I am still excited to get back into the classroom and learn with children.
Families are a child's first teacher. They know their children better than anyone. I hope that we can work in partnership to make sure your child has the best 3rd grade year possible. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to working together.
A little about me, my career started as a special education teacher in New York. I then completed my Masters degree as a Reading Specialist and moved into a traditional classroom. In the year 2000, I moved to Lakewood,Colorado and taught 4th grade in Adams County School District #14. I was a classroom teacher and then took on a coaching position as the Learning Coordinator at Central Elementary School.
In 2004 I married my husband, moved south, as I continued my career at Colorado Springs School District #11. I have been a STEM teacher, a reading coach and a teacher coach. During this time, I continued to be a learner and in 2017 I completed my doctorate in Educational Leadership, Policy and Research. It was a challenging journey, but I am incredibly proud of this accomplishment.
I have enjoyed the new opportunities my different roles have given me, however, my heart has remained in the classroom with students, so I returned here in the 2020-21 school year. I still look forward to each day, seeing each student grow in their skills and knowledge. I love to support their curiosity and enthusiasm in learning about the world around us.
In my free time I like to read, travel with my husband, spend time with family and friends, cuddle with my 2 dogs watching a good movie, work on creative projects, and garden.
