    General information

    • The Board of Education of School District 11 approves all learning resources pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute C.R.S. 22-32-109 (1)(t).
    • D11 BOE Policies IJJ and IJJ-R outline the process and guidance for the adoption of instructional materials and courses.
    • Schools should utilize only approved instructional resources for those resources required for a student to successfully complete the course.
    • Schools should only utilize approved courses available in the student information system (SIS).

    Overview of process for district-wide instructional resource adoptions*

    Example: Tier 1 middle school math resource

    1. A need and funding source is identified.
    2. The designated content facilitator will work with District 11 Procurement to release a request for purchase (RFP).
    3. The content facilitator will form a resource evaluation committee consisting of a range of stakeholders.
    4. The resource evaluation committee will utilize an agreed upon process and variety of tools to evaluate, score, and recommend an option that will best meet the needs of students and educators in District 11.
    5. The recommended resource will continue with the adoption process as stated in the timeline.

    Overview of process for school-level instructional resource proposals*

    Example: Supplemental resource used for high school chemistry.

    1. Resource is identified by individual teacher, teacher team, department, and/or school-wide teaching staff.
    2. Approval from principal, department chair (secondary only) to request adoption of resources
    3. Check if resource is already district approved. If so, a copyright update may be the best option.
    4. Submit Technology Support ticket for IT review and approval if resource includes digital content.
    5. Notify appropriate content facilitator by the date indicated on the timeline to receive the online proposal form.
    6. The content facilitator will review the proposal and may form a committee to review the proposal.
    7. Upon approval, the proposal will continue in the process as stated in the timeline.

    Overview of process for adopting, revising, or deleting a course

    1. Course is identified by individual teacher, teacher team, department, and/or school-wide teaching staff.
    2. Approval from principal, department chair (secondary only) to submit a proposal.
    3. Notify appropriate content facilitator by the date indicated on the timeline to receive the online proposal form.
    4. The content facilitator will review the proposal and may form a committee to review the proposal.
    5. Upon approval, the proposal will continue in the process as stated in the timeline.
